Hunt the herbivore, hunted by the carnivore

If you ever wanted to hunt dinosaurs, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter gives you that chance.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter takes a very strange, but familiar premise – what would it be like to hunt dinosaurs? – and gives players that option. Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is a semi-serious game where hunters set out and search for different tagged dinosaurs to hunt using different weapons and tools.

Weapons like the pistol, crossbow, and high-powered rifle are some of the tools used by the player and tools like radar, binoculars, and scent masking are some of the necessary options.

One mechanic to make the game a little more challenging is that the player is given a set amount of points that can be spent in picking which dinosaurs to hunt and what weapons to take along. As players gain more points, they are able to pick more dinosaurs and weapons.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is not an easy game. There is a lot of strategy necessary to trap and capture the dinosaurs in the game. Moving slowly is one way, but keeping in mind the smell capability of the dinosaur is also required.

The gameplay is mixed because the mechanics behind the world of Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is well done, but the touch-based movement and firing mechanic are lacking precision. It is fun to play, but there is some fine polish that certain parts of Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter needed.

But do not expect the most high resolution graphics in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter. The game presents the environment and dinosaurs adequately, but models are very geometric with not a lot of curves. It looks dated, but the gameplay has the ability to shine over that.

Audio plays another important role in that with headphones, the sound is a simulated surround so audio location of dinosaurs is decently accurate. The dinosaur noises and gun fire is recognizable, but nothing special.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is fun because of the gameplay. It is not the most amazing game for iOS, but it has the structure of a great game that could use a visual overhaul.

In this Lite Edition, players can equip themselves with two of six weapons; choose either Tranquilizer or Radar as their hunting accessory; combat five waves of deadly beasts in Survival mode, and hunt two of the ten carnivorous dinosaurs available in the full version.

Play Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter if you are looking for a challenging hunting game, but do not expect to be amazed by the graphics.
